About
Miriam Candelas Serra is a Spanish textile artist based in Prague. She creates botanical and abstract compositions in a graphic style with vibrant color palettes, where form and contours are enhanced with fibers to create volume and texture.
She is a self-taught artist who, after becoming a mother, shifted Neuroscience for textile art. Continuously learning, she incorporates different textile techniques combined with painting and plant-based printing in her pieces.
Her creations are a combination of artisanal techniques and contemporary designs to create original handmade artworks that invite contemplation and touch.
Sustainability is an essential part of her work, using almost exclusively repurposed or vintage materials.
“Once I start embroidering, it is very hard to stop. I love the rhythm and sounds it makes while the needle passes through the fabric or wood. It is like going into trance.”
